Discoverer Dashboard and Intelligence
Why should you document your Discoverer and BI Objects?
Click - Complete list of available portlets and metrics

Documenting your Discoverer Business Area, Folders and workbooks is a good idea because it helps you keep track of your BI inventory. Your reports and dashboards are part of the BI inventory and as an IT administrator, it is always a good practice to keep track of any changes to your BI inventory.
If you were running your own hardware store, would you be keeping track of your store inventory?
On similar lines, you should treat every object that caters to running your organization or business as part of your IT inventory.

- Workbook Creator
- The Dashboard should open in Tree mode, if it is not then click on the “Tree icon - Toggle Tree and Dashboard view” located on the far right on the Toolbar.
- Once you have all the parameters working, then click on the ‘Business Areas’ node. It should display the results. You can double click on the node to refresh again. Right click on the “(Drill++) Business Area” column. You will see a list of all defined drills. Click on any drill e.g “Folder Details” and it will show the corresponding information.
- You can select the checkbox by right clicking on the node and select it to include in report export.
- You can right click on any node on the Tree and it will display a list of available export options. Pick any export option such as PDF or HTML. Once you start the export, there will be a progress bar running on the toolbar (Top section). If the export is taking long time, you can request to stop the export at any time during the operation. The export will abort cleanly as soon as it finds the right moment and display the incomplete output in PDF or HTML. For initial testing, select only few nodes in the Tree to be included in the report.
- You can specify the export directory and file name on the “Export Options” button on the toolbar.
- Similarly try other export options with complete dashboard and Html output.
- Play around with colors and formats. There are lot of other things you can do to exclude certain nodes and change the color scheme.
